The legislature is moving forward with a bill package that would modernize the state’s ticket laws. Currently, Michigan is one of only six states prohibiting the resale of tickets, regardless of the resale price. The proposal would update the laws, while providing consumer protections. Specifically, it would allow consumers the right to sell their tickets at an agreed upon price, prohibits the use of bots and deceptive domains in ticket resale websites, and establishes regulations around the sale of speculative ticketing. The Senate passed the bills last week and this week they were referred to the House Judiciary Committee for consideration.
