Interim Department Director Named

Oct 05, 2018

Last Friday, Governor Rick Snyder announced Jeremy Hendges will serve as interim director of the Department of Talent and Economic Development (TED), replacing Roger Curtis who left the department on September 30. Hendges has served as chief deputy director for TED since being appointed in March 2017. Prior to joining TED, he worked in the Michigan Legislature. “Having known Jeremy for years, I can say first hand that he is an incredible asset to state government.   For years he’s served in critical leadership roles in the House of Representatives and within TED and led both with absolute integrity.   It’s exciting to see great people be promoted.   He will do great things with his new responsibilities,” said Brendan Ringlever of MLC. He holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Grand Valley State University.  The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

TED was created by Governor Snyder through Executive Order in 2014, taking effect in March 2015. The department works to bring state job creation and economic development efforts together under one umbrella. The department includes the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, the Talent Investment Agency, and the Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority.
