During her trade mission to Israel, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a technology-based Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Entered into with Start Up-Nation Central, an Israel-based nonprofit, the MOU is based on collaborating on technology solutions with the hope they will improve opportunities and quality of life for Michigan citizens. Together, the State of Michigan and the nonprofit will work to identify Israeli-based companies with opportunities to expand operations into Michigan to further the development and application of innovative technologies.
Prior to the MOU signing, Michigan already had ties with Start-Up Nation Central. Earlier this year, Michigan was the first state in the U.S. to launch a free web platform poised to help the state’s startup ecosystem. That platform was developed by Start-Up Nation Central and features more than 300 startups.
This is Governor Whitmer’s first international trip as governor. She is traveling throughout Israel from November 17 – 23, working to strengthen relationships and build business ties with startups and mobility companies.
