On Monday, Governor Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Celeste Bell to the 7th Circuit Court in Genesee County. Prior to her appointment she served as the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Civil Division for Genesee County. Additionally, she serves as in-house counsel for the Genesee Board of Commissioners, elected county officials, and county departments on all civil matters. Judge Bell has also previously worked as Deputy City Attorney in San Francisco, California, and a staff attorney at the United States District Court for the Ninth Circuit.
Judge Bell earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of former Judge Archie Hayman. She must seek election in November 2018 for a full term.
