General Election Overview: 52nd House District

Oct 09, 2018

Through the general election on November 6, the MLC Blog will be highlighting races generally considered swing seats, ones either party could win because of the voter base.  Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

 District Overview

The 52nd House District is located in Washtenaw County in Southeast Michigan.

Commentary

Representative Donna Lasinski (D) is running to earn a second term in the Michigan House While the district only has a 51% Democratic base, a Democrat has won this seat consistently, with the exception of the 2010 and 2014. Lasinski has the significant advantage in this race and has worked hard to be visible and increase her name ID during her first term in office. Lasinski also had a huge fundraising advantage coming out of the primary.

Democratic Candidate:

  • Donna Lasinski – State Representative, small business owner, former Ann Arbor School Board treasurer, former director of the Washtenaw County Association of School Boards

Republican Candidate:

  • Teri Aiuto – Real estate broker, small business owner, former Sharon Township Clerk, former Secretary of the Sharon Township Zoning Board
