The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) launched a new dashboard allowing the public to track programs under Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program. The site includes MDOT’s five-year plan, as well as an in-depth look at the governor’s program. An interactive map shows the location, scope, and progress for each project, along with a statewide tally of the hours of construction work spent on projects and the jobs supported by the work.
The Rebuilding Michigan Program is financing projects throughout the state and freeing up funding to expand the scope of projects or reduce construction time. It is focusing on rebuilding state highways and bridges critical to the state’s economy and that carry the most traffic. Unanimously approved by the State Transportation Commission, the program allows MDOT to sell a total of $3.5 billion in bonds to finance dozens of new and modified road construction projects, while accelerating others.
