Ninah Sasy has been appointed as the state’s Clean Water Public Advocate by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. Prior to the appointment, she worked as a senior maternal child health strategist with the Department of Health and Human Services. She also brings to the role experience in grant administration, emergency response, and project management. Ms. Sasy holds a Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in administration from Central Michigan University.
The Clean Water Public Advocate was established by Governor Gretchen Whitmer through executive order, which created the Office of the Clean Water Public Advocate. The office’s duties include investigating complaints and concerns regarding drinking water quality; establishing a statewide uniform reporting system to collect and analyze complaints; assisting in the development and implementation of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations related to drinking water quality; and working with public and private stakeholders on outreach efforts to improve the state’s drinking water.
