Recall petitions filed against Governor Rick Snyder and Senator Wayne Schmidt (R-Traverse City) were denied this week by the Board of State Canvassers. An individual filed the petition against Senator Schmidt due to the Senator’s vote on increasing road funding. However, the petition language failed because it didn’t factually state clearly the reason for the recall. The petition filed against Governor Snyder was seeking to recall him from office due to the Flint water crisis and the lack of safe drinking water in the city. That petition was denied due to the same reasons. It is expected that the same individuals will file new petitions, which may be reviewed in January.
